“We are keen to enable talented linguists to study for a career in the language industry at a time when it is at its most dynamic,” says Christophe Fricker, Programme Director of the MA Translation.

The new MA Translation Scholarship provides a partial fee waiver worth GBP 5,000 each for two incoming new MAT students.

“This is a major new initiative and the next step in our journey of showing that Translation is one of the driving forces of economic and cultural development in the world today,” adds Fricker. “Colleagues have added innovative materials, tasks and workshop formats to our core units; we have received praise by the Chartered Institute of Linguists; and Bristol Translates, our literary translation summer school, has quickly become a fixture on the global calendar of translation events.”

All applicants to the MA Translation are eligible to apply to the new Scholarship. The application deadline is 1 June 2024 at 12 noon UK time. The programme will make offers of a scholarship to successful applicants within 20 working days of the deadline. Awardees will be expected to reply to the scholarship offer notification and confirm their acceptance of the award, and the relevant terms and conditions, via email, within two weeks.
