On 12 October Bristol hosted the Goethe Institut German Careers Roadshow, with a full programme of talks for school and university students about the relevance of German in professional life. Exhibition stands offered conversations about study in Germany and at Bristol and about working for German companies in Germany and the UK.
Over 500 school pupils from South Wales and South-West England, along with university students, made the Richmond Building a buzzing centre for all things German-speaking for the day. One of our visiting teachers wrote: "It's such a fantastic and powerful way of showcasing the importance of German." We couldn't agree more!
Our thanks go to the Goethe Institut and DAAD, to the SU for hosting us, and to our exhibitors and speakers locally and – online – live from Germany. Thanks to the schools who undertook the trip to attend, and to colleagues from the Careers Service and across the School, as well as to our student ambassadors and speakers for their brilliant contributions on the day.
