About the event

Speakers: Ms. Karen Bedier (Doctoral Researcher at Loughborough University, Senior Finance Analyst at the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade of Seychelles).

This webinar will provide an overview of my research proposal titled "How Do Various External Shocks Influence the Economic Stability of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and How Can Economic Resilience Be Strengthened?"

The session will outline key research questions, objectives, a brief literature review, data sources, methodology, identified research gaps, the importance of the study, the study’s potential contribution and real-world impact.

Additionally, I will discuss challenges related to data availability, particularly missing macroeconomic variables, and seek assistance in obtaining quarterly data for SIDS.

Furthermore, this dataset will be made available afterward, subject to approval from SIDS government entities. This unique dataset will help motivate further research on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), addressing one of the key challenges faced in SIDS research, data limitations.
